Lot #10 LIVE AUCTION - BABY GIRAFFE & MOTHER, UKUWELA RESERVE 2021 - FINE ART PORTRAIT BY MARTIN MEYER

This sweet scene was taken by Wild Tomorrow Fund’s Ambassador, South African photographer Martin Meyer, at our Ukuwela Nature Reserve last month. This piece will be auctioned live (online bids also accepted). The top bidder will get to name the baby giraffe and take home this incredible fine art portrait of ‘their giraffe’ as a lasting image of their contribution to conservation.As giraffe can be individually identified thanks to their coat patterns, as unique as finger prints, this truly will become ‘your’ giraffe, to recognize and hopefully one day visit at our Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal South Africa.

Alison Nicholls, inspired by her years living in Zimbabwe and Botswana, practices plain air painting- the act of painting outdoors. Her wild subjects are observed in their wild settings as she captures details in her art that can only be taken from a natural model. Her art has been widely exhibited, including at the Botswana Mission to the United Nations in Manhattan, and by the US Department of State to promote the Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking initiative.

Lot #5 “Life” - Sculpture by Shepherd Ndudzo

Made of ironwood and marble on a granite base it is 17”x5”x14"

Shepherd Ndudzo is a Zimbabwean artist coming from a long line of Zimbabwean sculptors. Drawing inspiration from folk stories and the socio-political crises of his country, his work often aims to make subtle commentary on the issues of today. Using responsibly sourced wild syringa, ironwood, and metal, his work often consists of elongated limbs without an emphasis on individual character details. He has spoken of his desire to have his sculptures viewed from above but his art is engaging, unique, and beautiful from every angle. He has received international recognition, including winning the Outstanding Piece Award at the 5th Beijing International Art Biennale. His work can be found in the collections of the World Bank, the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, the De Beers Diamonds Company, and more.
