FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT DOES WILD TOMORROW DO?

We are dedicated to the protection of threatened and endangered species and the habitats they depend on for survival. We want to ensure that the world that comes after us is a world in which a wild tomorrow is possible. We work on the ground in Southern Africa and our vision is for a world in which wildlife habitats are expanded and protected, and where existing reserves have the resources needed to keep their animals safe.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CONSERVATION CHARITIES?

That's a good question. In many respects we aim to closely emulate certain charities in the conservation space. The organizations we aspire to be more like, through tireless work and experience, have discovered the most ecologically and financially effective ways to help wildlife. For example, like the Phinda Private Game reserve, we hope to preserve habitat by acquiring land that would otherwise be, or once has been farmland.

One way we are different from many other conservation charities is that we actually run our own programs, as opposed to many others who pass along their donations to other non-profits to perform work. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

We like to think we are as fresh, energetic and knowledgeable as any other charity out there. We're also incredibly lean meaning that you'll probably see our founder at the post office sending supplies to Africa.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THE LAND YOU SAVE?

First and foremost we will protect it from environmentally unsustainable use. Our purpose for acquiring land is simply to protect it and to allow wild animals to live the lives nature intended. There are some small projects like removing alien plant species that must be done however these are short term exercises. An exciting project that we aim to fund is building a small research center where regional ecologists can perform their work. These facilities are few and far between so we see this as an incredibly worthwhile project.

WHAT ANIMALS ARE YOU PROTECTING?

Elephants, rhinos, lions, and African wild dogs are some of the most at-risk species, so by equipping the reserves with the right equipment our supporters help protect these animals. But the amount of other species we can help by equipping the reserve’s managers and ecologists is enormous. Everything from vultures, giraffe, butterflies, monkeys, beetles, zebra and snakes, not to mention fever trees and other flora, will benefit from your donation.

HOW WILL MY DONATION BE USED?

The short answer is, however you'd like. We want you to personally choose what to donate. Just like a wedding registry, we have a list of projects that urgently need support. These range from protecting habitat, to purchasing a pair of field ranger boots. We also accept donations specifically directed at our land acquisition program, our research efforts, or community service.

IS WILD TOMORROW TAX EXEMPT?

If you are a resident of either the USA or South Africa, your donation is tax exempt. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the US and an approved Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) in South Africa.

HOW MUCH OF MY MONEY GOES TO THE CAUSE?

This is probably the most frequently asked question.

Like any private or public organization, Wild Tomorrow requires a small portion of each donation be set aside for operating expenses. This is simply to keep us going so we can continue to save animals. In 2016 our administration expenses were 10.2%. We're extremely proud of this number.

CAN YOU ACCEPT DONATIONS OF APPRECIATED SECURITIES OR REAL ESTATE?

Being a 501(c)3 charity, we are able to accept appreciated securities. These are investments that have increased in value from the time they were purchased. They can take the form of publicly-traded stock, closely-held stock or mutual funds.

We're also able to accept gifted real estate. Your gift may qualify for a federal income tax deduction.

DO I GET A RECEIPT?

Yes, plus a big thank you! Once you've made your donation you can save and print your receipt. We will also make every effort to keep you updated on how your contribution is being used.
