HELP US WIN FOR WILDLIFE AND WILD PLACES!
Wild Tomorrow is thrilled to announce that we’ve been selected as one of only 13 projects around the world for the EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) autumn funding shortlist! Read more about our project in our latest blog below and how to vote to help us win in the wild places category!
Wild Tomorrow is thrilled to be in the running to win a €30,000 grant for our work from the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA)to protect and restore habitat on South Africa’s Elephant Coast at our Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve — but we need YOUR help to win!
After a rigorous selection process by the EOCA’s selection committee, our project, “Restoring Threatened Habitat on South Africa’s Elephant Coast” was shortlisted as one of only 13 projects around the world to make the cut this funding round. The shortlisted projects are now put to a public vote. There are three categories, and the project that receives the most votes in each category will receive funding from EOCA. Our project is in the “Wild Places” category.
Please take 30 seconds to vote for our project before voting closes on Tuesday, November 12! There are just three easy steps:
Register to vote on the EOCA website and verify your email address.
Open the Wild Places category.
Vote for Wild Tomorrow’s project: “Restoring Threatened Habitat on South Africa’s Elephant Coast!”
A few clicks will go a long way for wildlife!
The grant from the EOCA would accelerate our restoration and community education programs by:
Funding the salaries of 6 Green Mambas and 1 full-time community nursery manager. This will enable them to continue restoring habitat at the Greater Ukuwela Nature Reserve, including our critically endangered sand forest, with a goal of planting 2500-3000 native sand forest trees.
EOCA’s funding will also help us to provide equitable access to our reserve’s wild spaces by hosting children and young adults to learn about the region's biodiversity. Many local Zulu people living in our community have not had the opportunity to see their country’s incredible wildlife with fences dividing community land and nature reserves. Their funding will:
Support our environmental education program to enable 300+ local Zulu children to visit the reserve each year to experience the wonders of nature.
Hold 12 (monthly) educational workshops for local staff on environmental topics and training in reserve management; and 4 public educational workshops on conservation topics for the conservation community.
We’ve made it so far... Please cast your vote for Wild Tomorrow to help bring the funding home to save wildlife on our nature reserve.
THANK YOU 💚
