JUNIOR BOARD RECRUITMENT

2025

Are you eager to make a significant impact for threatened wildlife and wild spaces while expanding your professional horizons?

If your answer is yes, we invite you to apply to join the Junior Board of Wild Tomorrow, a nonprofit dedicated to wildlife conservation and community empowerment in global biodiversity hotspots!

ABOUT WILD TOMORROW

Wild Tomorrow is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and restore habitat for endangered species in global biodiversity hotspots. Based in New York City, we have successfully protected over 4,200 acres of land in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, which is now a legally protected nature reserve.

Our vision is to restore a wildlife corridor connecting an 80,000-acre private reserve on one side of our river, to the expansive 800,000-acre UNESCO World Heritage iSimangaliso Wetland Park, which stretches all the way to the coast.

We have also created 30+ sustainable jobs for local people, who work both on and off the reserve, supporting more than 200 dependents between them, and we contribute to educational initiatives in our neighboring Zulu community, including two schools and an orphanage.

JUNIOR BOARD COMMITMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Junior Board member, your annual commitment is $1,000, for which you can fundraise and which can be matched (“give or get”). Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Hosting One Event Annually: Plan and execute one fundraising or awareness event each year to support Wild Tomorrow’s mission.

  • Social Engagement: Participate in a social event designed to thank you for your contributions and foster connections among board members.

  • Networking Opportunities: Engage with our board of directors and learn from experienced leaders in the nonprofit sector.

  • Participation in Other Events: Join various events organized by Wild Tomorrow throughout the year, enhancing your experience and impact.

WHY JOIN THE JUNIOR BOARD?

  • Make a Difference: Contribute to wildlife conservation and community development in Africa.

  • Professional Growth: Gain invaluable experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, event planning, and real-world wildlife conservation.

  • Networking: Build relationships with like-minded individuals and industry leaders who share your passion for biodiversity conservation.

  • Mentorship Opportunities: Learn from seasoned board members and enhance your skills in governance and strategic oversight.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

We invite New York City-based mid-career professionals to apply for the junior board, with a preference for those with experience in sustainable finance, sustainable development, sustainability consulting, and/or in emerging markets.

Applicants with a strong commitment to wildlife, nature, or biodiversity conservation from all professional backgrounds will be considered, however, particularly if they have experience in fundraising.

We seek to recruit a total of 10 Junior Board members, two or three of whom will be the board leaders.

Our Junior Board aims to cultivate a vibrant community of young professionals dedicated to creating positive change for globally threatened biodiversity. If you are ready to take on this exciting opportunity to make an impact for wildlife conservation while developing your leadership skills, please submit your application by Monday, February 17.
