US BOARD DIRECTOR
RECRUITMENT

2022

Are you interested in saving, preserving, and protecting wild places and wildlife in the most fragile parts of the world? If yes, then we invite you to consider joining our US Board of Directors

Wild Tomorrow Fund is a seven-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a budget that exceeded $1 million last year. Our mission is to protect wildlife by protecting and "rewilding" land in global biodiversity hotspots, working together with our local community to create sustainable livelihoods, both inside and outside wildlife areas.

We are currently focused in Zululand, South Africa where we have formally protected over 3,107 acres of land, saving it from imminent risk of deforestation and conversion to monoculture agriculture. Last year, we successfully declared the land as a legally protected Nature Reserve, giving it the same level of protection as a national park.

Our US Board of Directors is currently six members strong and we are aiming to add another two to three Directors this year. We will continue to gradually expand in the coming years.

We are looking for energetic, resourceful, and connected individuals to help us grow. If you are ready to apply, there is a short application form to help us get to know you. There will be an opportunity to meet with the founders and members of our board as well.

To be considered please submit your application by April 14th, 2022.

ROLE OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Playing a top leadership role for our organization, the Board of Directors provides strategic, generative, and fiduciary oversight. This includes:

- determining the mission and purposes of the organization

- selecting and evaluating the performance of the CEO

- strategic and organizational planning

- ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management

- fundraising and resource development

- approving and monitoring the organization’s programs and services

- enhancing the organization’s public image

- assessing the organization’s performance as its governing body

EXPECTATIONS OF INDIVIDUAL BOARD DIRECTORS

Individual Board Directors are expected to:

- know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs

- faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements

- serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission

- leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action toward achieving the organization’s mission

- give a meaningful personal financial donation. We set a $15,000 give/get for each Board member annually. This means you are expected to ‘give’ a donation while also ‘getting’ other financial resources to reach the goal each year (for example by introducing new donors to the organization, selling tickets to the annual Gala, company matched donations, or hosting a personal fundraiser).

- help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing and can influence public policy

- prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings

- participate fully in one or more board committees
