Lot #4 - Green & Black Poison Dart Frog framed limited edition print by Nick Mayer

Framed size: 15.8” x 12.8”

This framed limited edition print of Nick Mayer's Green & Black Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus) is hand-signed on archival watercolor paper. Nick Mayer is an award-winning nature illustrator whose style embraces the natural beauty of fish and other marine life with a unique scientific perspective. He is a former marine biologist and a lifelong fly fishing addict.

"This painting was inspired by looking back over my childhood sketchbooks and rekindling my sense of awe and wonder at the natural world, using vibrant colors. The colors of this frog are not dramatized, they really are this electric in real life! The brilliant blue signals to predators that the frog is deadly poisonous. Native to Central & South America, native hunters use the poison from the frog's back to poison their blowgun dart heads. The black spot pattern is unique to each individual."
