The debut Alt.Wild Collection, titled ‘Matriarch.in.Motion’.

Alt.Wild is a NFT project focused on wildlife conservation. It is small collections of unique NFT photographs that help raise funds for non-profits while shining a light on their important conservation efforts.

Alt.Wild was created by South African Field Guide and Photographer, Byron Grobler, when he began taking strange and unique photographs that he felt needed to stand on their own with a specific purpose. With his guiding career behind him, he wanted to continue his passion for wildlife photography while making a positive impact … Alt.Wild allows him to do just that! The aim is not only to raise funds, but to also show both collectors and the public what goes into protecting wild spaces and the species that call these spaces home. Alt.Wild’s launch of their debut NFT collection, titled ‘Matriarch.in.Motion’ (on OpenSea.io), will donate 75% of sales to Wild Tomorrow Fund!

Many people might find cryptocurrencies and NFTs confusing and daunting. “NFT” is an acronym for a “Non-Fungible Token” and, most simply put, a Non-Fungible Token is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, in-game items, videos, or more. These tokens exist on a blockchain, cannot be replicated, and are bought and sold online using cryptocurrency.

This is not Wild Tomorrow Fund’s first crypto donation. We have proudly been crypto-enabled for donations since 2018, read more here. Crypto donations are taking the world of philanthropy by storm. Last year, The Giving Block, saw $69 million in donations through their platform (who we partner with) – that’s a 1,558% increase in donation volume! Fidelity Charitable reported a similar rise in crypto giving, receiving around $331 million in crypto donations in 2021 compared to $28 million in 2020.

Byron Grobler, the founder of Alt.Wild, connected to Wild Tomorrow Fund’s corridor vision and our community work, which was the reason he chose us as his first charity partner.

“The vision of saving and connecting corridors of land for wildlife to thrive in resonates with me on a deep level. You cannot protect wildlife without protecting the wild spaces they call home. I get the feeling that what they’re doing can become a template for other wild areas. Another important part of wildlife conservation is uplifting the local communities and I got the sense that this is a high priority for Wild Tomorrow Fund with people’s lives visibly being impacted positively.”

“I came across Wild Tomorrow Fund on social media a while back and more recently, when looking deeper, I was pleasantly surprised with how open and up to date they were with what they are working on and trying to achieve. I got a great feeling of forward thinking from the organisation. I was kindly invited to visit some of the team in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa to learn more about what goes into achieving their goals and was totally blown away by how far they had come in just a few years.”

Wild Tomorrow Fund is excited to be the first featured and benefitting charity of this exciting and innovative NFT project. We wish Alt.Wild and Byron the best of luck in raising awareness and making a positive impact in conservation!
