TEAM ELEPHANT TAKES ON NYC: OUR FIRST TD FIVE BORO BIKE TOUR!

On Sunday, May 4th, 2025, Wild Tomorrow’s Team Elephant made its deput in the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, joining over 32,000 cyclists in a 40-mile journey through New York City’s five boroughs - all on car-free streets. This marked our first participation in the world’s largest charitable bike ride, and we pedaled with purpose: to protect wildlife and wild spaces.

MEET THE HERD

Wild Tomorrow’s first ever Team Elephant in the 2025 TD Five Boro Bike Tour! Annic, John B., Chase, Wendy, Adam, John S., Darrick, Alex, Rikus and Tori.

Our team of eight riders included Wild Tomorrow’s Co-Founders, John Steward and Wendy Hapgood, as well as Annic Randriamampianina, our Team Elephant Manager and Financial Administrator, and Tori Gray, our Development and Partner Relations Manager based in South Africa. Tori’s participation was especially meaningful as she rode alongside her father, Adam, and brother, Alex, celebrating Adam’s 60th birthday with a ride dedicated to conservation - a cause close to his heart.

We were also joined by Wild Tomorrow Ambassadors Rikus and John B., who led the herd from the front of the first wave, along with riders Chase and Darrick .

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE RIDE

The route took us through all five boroughs, offering breathtaking views and iconic landmarks:

  • Starting in Lower Manhattan and riding up Sixth Avenue (past Radio City Music Hall!) through the beautiful Central Park

  • Crossing into the Bronx via the Madison Avenue Bridge

  • Returning to Manhattan along the FDR Drive, offering stunning East River views

  • Traversing the Queensboro Bridge into Queens

  • Heading into Brooklyn via the Pulaski Bridge

  • Conquering the long Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge into Staten Island, where the ride concluded at Fort Wadsworth

Every mile we pedaled supports Wild Tomorrow’s mission to protect wildlife and wild spaces. Did you know?

  • We protect 3,869 acres in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, creating vital wildlife corridors.
