HELPING COMMUNITIES
Conservation is as much about people as wildlife. We envision a future where our neighbors in northern KwaZulu-Natal South Africa value the region’s protected areas and it’s unique wildlife, and are able to directly experience and benefit in sustainable ways from conservation.
We invest in the livelihoods of our neighbors by supporting two local daycare centers, supplying food for hunger relief and school lunches, educational resources and more. Our support for the community also includes our Green Mambas team: an amazing group of 14 women we employ to work at our Ukuwela wildlife reserve.They work seasonally to restore our wildlife reserve, removing alien plants and other reserve management work. Not only is this essential to restore the reserve and its ecological processes - their hard work provides much needed income for the women, their children and their extended families in the community.
Any donation you make in support of our community program will go to improving the lives of the wonderful people who live nearby to the Ukuwela Conservancy and partner wildlife reserves in the region.
