REWILD THE WORLD - STARTING WHERE YOU ARE!
This Earth Day, we’re turning our attention to rewilding—a hopeful, compassionate movement that brings life back to ecosystems and reconnects people to nature. It’s about more than just planting trees; it’s about restoring balance, letting wild species thrive, and giving nature the space it needs to heal.
Once a pineapple farm, now a thriving wild landscape—restored and rewilded, this land is now home to a rich variety of wildlife.
Over the last 55 years, our planet has undergone a dramatic transformation.
Since 1970, we’ve lost nearly 70% of global wildlife populations, and vast tracts of natural habitat have disappeared—cleared for agriculture, infrastructure, and urban sprawl. In the same period, the global human population has doubled, while wild species have been pushed into ever-shrinking pockets of natural space.
Today, the imbalance is stark: 96% of the biomass of all mammals on Earth is made up of humans and livestock while wild mammals now make up just 4% of the total.
At Wild Tomorrow, rewilding is at the heart of everything we do. From restoring critically endangered sand forests in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, to reconnecting fragmented ecosystems through wildlife corridors, we work every day to bring life back to the land—and to ensure that wild species have a place to thrive. Our Green Mamba restoration team is on the ground removing invasive species, planting native trees, and protecting biodiversity in one of the world’s most important ecological hotspots.
But we can’t do it alone. Rewilding is a global mission—and it starts with you.
Whether you live in a high-rise apartment, have a backyard, or work in an office with a window box, you can be like a Green Mamba in your own space: pull out weeds, plant something wild, and protect a patch of nature.
Wild Tomorrow’s growing nursery is a vital part of our sand forest restoration project.
EVERYDAY ACTIONS ANYONE CAN TAKE
You don’t need a nature reserve to make a difference. Here are simple rewilding actions you can take from home or work:
Donate towards habitat restoration projects
Plant native species in your own garden, balcony, or windowsill
Create a pollinator haven with wildflowers that attract bees and butterflies
Remove invasive alien plants—even a few can make a big difference
Capture rainwater in barrels or tanks to water your garden naturally
Leave wild corners—log piles, long grass, and leaf litter all support wildlife
Ditch the pesticides and let natural predators do their job
Feed the soil by composting food scraps
Use apps like iNaturalist to learn what’s living around you—and help monitor it
Involve kids and community—rewilding is even more powerful when shared
If you’re ready to scale up your efforts, here are more advanced rewilding steps to guide your own urban or community-based project:
Target Native Species and Biodiversity Impact
Identify which local species will benefit from your project
Remove invasive species
Focus on umbrella species (those that support many others)
Use tools like iNaturalist and IUCN Red List.
Get Your Community Involved
Rewilding is more impactful when it brings people together. Rally your neighbors, schools, or workplaces. Host planting days or citizen science events.Monitor Your Impact
Track plant growth, species sightings, and community involvement. Use tools like camera traps, butterfly counts, or iNaturalist data to measure progress.

SUPPORT REWILDING PROJECTS ON THE GROUND
Rewilding your backyard is powerful. Supporting large-scale restoration projects is transformative.
Our team is working to restore and protect over 1,566.74 hectares of critical habitat in South Africa. Your support helps us:
Plant indigenous trees in a biodiversity hotspot.
Protect wildlife by removing fences and reconnecting habitats
Remove invasive species and bring native plants back to the land
Monitor species and restore biodiversity across the landscape
Help us Plant a tree today in our sand forest restoration project and be part of shaping a wilder tomorrow.
EARTH DAY IS EVERY DAY
Rewilding is a revolution of hope—and it needs all of us.
From a single native flower on a balcony to a forest returning to life in KwaZulu-Natal, every action counts. Together, we can create a future where ecosystems thrive, wildlife returns, and communities are reconnected to the natural world.
This Earth Day, we challenge you to do one wild thing:
🌱 Rewild your space.
🌍 Support restoration on the ground.
🐍 Be like a Green Mamba—fierce, focused, and restoring nature every day.
